FAQ

Each swim is planned to last between 60 – 75 minutes. During the swims we will stop regularly to regroup and provide direction. Each swim will cover somewhere between 2.0 – 3.5 km. Each swim is designed with an early exit option.

Each tour is different (please see details in the specific tour information). Generally speaking we try to work in two swims per day, apart from the first and final days of the trip, when only one swim is usually scheduled.

No, not at all. This is your holiday, swim as much, or as little, as you wish. We will, however, encourage you to join us on each swim ~ "you never regret a swim!"

Yes, most of the accommodation on our tours are based on two people sharing and therefore, the majority of our rooms are Double or Twin Share.

In between swims you will find time to read a book, have a cuppa, play cards, socialise with others on the trip, or maybe have a nanna nap!

You can choose to wear flippers for some, or all, of the swims. We are not here to race, but rather enjoy the beautiful environment. If you're not at your fittest,  fins may become your best friend by the 3rd or 4th swim! 

The wetsuit option is a personal decision and is worth considering; not only do they keep you warmer, but they also provide you with a bit more flotation, protection from the sun and any marine stingers that we might encounter. For those that have an ordinary kick, or just a bad attitude toward kicking - wetsuit floatie shorts are also a good option!

We work on a water safety ratio of 1:6 or 1:8 (trip dependant) and complete a thorough risk assessment prior to each swim. Our staff are fully qualified as swim coaches and/or lifeguards, but are also accomplished open water swimmers and in most cases, Surf Lifesavers.

We'd be shocked if you didn't! Our tours offer a variety of swimming environments, from the pristine waters of the Great Barrier Reef, the lakes on K'Gari, to the Ocean Pools of Bondi. Each location is rich in the diversity of marine and wildlife that we encounter. Over the years we have swum alongside a variety of fish, turtles, rays, whales, dolphins and the occasional shark - while on the land, you'll see different bird species, goannas and reptiles. On K'Gari,  the trip isn't complete without seeing a dingo or two!

In all circumstances and for all bookings, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. 

Of course - we need someone to carry our bags, rub in sunscreen, take our photos etc. Seriously, all tours that we offer have something to keep the non-swimmer happy.
